There are all sorts of benefits to carrying your baby, but once you have more than one child you almost can’t survive without some sort of sling or carrier. Having one that fits well is important for the comfort and safety of your back and your child’s growing body.
Having said that, I have to admit that I didn’t make it to a sling library until child number three. After tussling with two previous babies and three carriers that didn’t fit me, I attended an open session at South London Sling Library. After trying several and renting a couple of different types, I am now the happy owner of a Manduca.
Emily and her team run two sessions a week where you can ask questions, try on slings (£2 per adult attending) and rent them for a fortnight (usually around £10 per rental plus a refundable deposit). Emily also runs workshops for those wanting to know more. This is a fantastic service, especially if you already have one baby and are finding your current arrangement uncomfortable.
