Sydenham Hill Wood

FullSizeRender (41)This beautiful and atmospheric wood is big enough to get lost in. There’s a duck pond, a ruined monastery, wooden sculptures, and an old railway path and tunnel arch. If you’re interested in forest school, there’s a very popular forest playgroup on Thursday mornings, called Nature Play. Visit the group’s facebook page the day before to reserve a spot. It’s a good place for outdoor play on a rainy day as there are many areas where the trees provide shelter from the rain.

Entrances on Sydenham Hill and Crescent Wood Road, SE26

If you feel peckish after a prolonged walk in the woods, try the nearby Wood House pub on Crescent Wood Rd. The food isn’t super amazing but you can get hot and cold drinks and there’s a big garden to run around in.
